A superb art book covering the PS1 era of final fantasy! Tons of great art,character concepts, unused content and more!Even has the original design documents from back when FF7 was planned to be an n64 game!Sadly as expected, ff7 has way more extensive content than the other titles,FF9 actually has the most pages, but it covers less topics.FF8 comes in last with only about 60% of the length of the ff7 section.But regardless of your favorite PS1 you're sure to find lots of great content and beautiful artwork!This book is well worth the price, even at MSRP!(now if only amazon could not dent up EVERY hard cover book I order... this is the 3rd time..)Good, but Final Fantasy VIII gets unequal treatment yet again... I've been waiting for this to come out to get as a keepsake, as these games were the heart of my childhood. Overall it's a great Volume, especially for fans of VII and IX. For a fan like me however, who likes those two games, but love VIII, I feel like we drew the short straw yet again. Both 7 and 9 have tons of info like character sketches at different stages, and other tidbits of info that are completely omitted from 8, and as a fan that's disheartening.If you are buying this as a solid fan of FF VIII, just be aware that compared to the other two sections, there isn't that much material by comparison. They could have and should have included more, where 8 is concerned, and gone more in depth like they did with the others. As it stands, I feel that particular section just got a very bare bones inclusion.Shipping wise mine arrived in pristine condition with no dents or dings. Great quality paper and printing. Included a few pics as a sample.High quality. A tad underwhelming content. Maybe, this book is one of those products that I would have enjoyed more when the games originally came out. With that said, this book is still high quality in both presentation and the illustrations. I'm hoping that they continue making these volumes after the next one, and I hope that Dark Horse starts including the spinoff games in the series such as FF Tactics. Anyway, I wish they would have had art over the battle systems, more developmental artwork, and not looked so much like a game guide, y'know? For the content that is here, it's nice. The printing and paper grade is top notch, and you can tell they didn't just slap this book together.I do have a gripe, though. This is the fifth or sixth Dark Horse art book I've ordered in the past three weeks, and it came dinged and bent like the others. It's not bad-bad, but I expected sharp corners. Amazon needs to pack their books as well as they pack the diecast cars they sell and slap "Fragile!" stickers on the shipping boxes. Unfortunately, I don't have time to send it back to get another one, especially with Christmas coming up. Learn how to ship books, Amazon.
